How thick are Zellige tiles?

Geon traditional Moroccan Zellige tile comes in two sizes; 4"x4" and 2"x6". The 4x4 tiles are 3/8" thick while the 2x6 tile is thicker at 7/8". This is due to the way artisans hand make each piece of Zellige.  

There are ways to manage the thicker 2x6 Zellige tile as this is done hundreds of times daily. For example, if the Zellige is to be installed as a backsplash, and the home is more traditional, then an extra layer of moulding or a thicker moulding profile will both work. These are both readily available. Another option would be to add a 1" deep by 1/4" thick profile around the decorative moulding to give it enough width to protrude past the edge of the tile.

If the home is more contemporary or modern then the tile itself becomes the moulding. This is achieved by installing the Zellige tile up to the window or door frame and returning back onto itself.
